Tenders under Peru’s telecommunications program (Pronatel) were postponed and specifications regarding fiber optics backbone contracts changed.
The tenders come after the government took control of the 13,600km infrastructure.
Announcements of the winners of a tender for the acquisition of 184km of fiber optics cables were planned for September 5, after having been postponed twice last week.
Also, technical specifications and the schedule for the process of acquiring fiber optics accessories and splice closures were updated. Pronatel seeks to buy 1,131 splice closure kits, 10,000 yellow plastic labels, 7,500 headbands, 450 patch cords of different sizes and 450 pigtails.
The process is open to consultations until September 7 and proposals may be presented on September 14, while the winner will be announced on September 19.
This schedule is also in place for the acquisition of two servers for the backbone, whose technical specifications were updated. The servers involve updates to the FMN-T Manager to reduce failures due to management problems, allowing better operation of DWDM network equipment hardware and software.
