In the continuing efforts by members of road safety regulatory agency in Nigeria, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), to ensure safer road environments during the new year celebrations, Corps Marshal Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi  has urged members of the motoring public to remain cautious in their celebration of the new year, assuring that FRSC personnel would remain vigilant on the roads to maintain safety during the period and beyond.

FRSC statement seen by https://www.cyberera.com.ng, and authored by Corps Public Education Officer FRSC, Bisi Kazeem, says Oyeyemi  gave the assurance in his new year message in which he described as “satisfactory,” the stability recorded on the nation’s highways during the Christmas celebration, saying that collective feat must be sustained through continuous adherence to traffic rules and regulations and vigilance by members of the Corps.

Dr. Oyeyemi  restated his appreciation to members of the motoring public for adhering strictly to the advice given by the Corps on obedience to traffic rules and regulations, noting that with the new year celebration and return journey of the road travelers, all hands must remain on the deck to ensure that the present stability on the roads was sustained and improved upon in the new year.

“We have attained certain reasonable standards in traffic management during the Christmas celebration, and that feat should be sustained through continuous adherence to traffic rules and regulations and vigilance of the FRSC personnel on the roads,” he stated.

The Corps Marshal further stated that with the return journey of people after the celebrations and expected rise in traffic movements in the new year, occasioned by increased  political activities towards the 2019 general elections in the country, FRSC personnel would remain on guard to prevent all forms of disobedience to traffic rules and regulations as well as road mishaps.

He solicited the cooperation of all members of the public to remain committed to the ongoing efforts to make the Nigeria roads one of the safest in the world as being pursued by the united Nations under the auspices of the UN Decade of Action for Road Safety: 2011-2020.

The FRSC boss  assured his agency would remain committed to its statutory responsibility of keeping the nation’s roads safe, while wishing all and sundry  happy celebration and safe drive into the new year.
