UCD CS Netslab Researchers In A Global Collaboration To Bolster Zero Touch Security And Privacy For 6G Networks

Netslab researchers at UCD’s School of Computer Science are actively participating in a global collaboration aimed at bolstering the Zero Touch security and privacy for 6G networks.
As a member of the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC) consortium, UCD is helping drive innovations that could transform telecommunications with the advent of 6G technology. This consortium, spearheaded by VUB Brussels, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Tirupati from India, is focused on advancing Zero Touch security and privacy for 6G networks.
Collaboration at Its Core
UCD Netslab ((opens in a new window)https://netslab.ucd.ie/ ) research team led by Associate Professor Madhusanka Liyanage will collaborate closely with leading institutions and industry partners such as VUB, IIT Roorkee, and IIT Tirupati. This collaboration integrates a wealth of interdisciplinary expertise, encompassing 6G networks, cybersecurity, and machine learning. By combining insights from these esteemed organizations, the SPARC project aims to advance zero-touch security and privacy solutions for 6G networks, leveraging a broad range of technological and research perspectives.

Dr. Madhusanka and UCD Netslab research team members will travel to IIT Roorkee and IIT Tirupati to to contribure for workshops and seminars in the domain of zero touch security and privacy for 6G network. Furthermore, UCD Netslab host research scholars from IIT Roorkee, further advancing the goals of the SPARC project.
Impacting the Future
The project aims to enhance zero-touch security and privacy for 6G by focusing on secure connectivity for IoT devices in zero-trust networks. It addresses critical elements like access control, authorization, and authentication, using smart driving scenarios to showcase lightweight privacy solutions tailored for 5G and 6G applications. The initiative prioritizes privacy during data collection and storage, balancing security with system performance. Blockchain technology is central to this approach, reinforcing security and enabling distributed trust within the zero-trust network architecture.
