Every item in Zegna’s new Vellus Aureum range includes an NFC tag that acts as a digital product passport, enabling buyers to access provenance information and verify that a product is the genuine article, the Italian designer menswear brand has revealed.

“This certificate guarantees the authenticity of your garment, symbolising not just luxury but your role in preserving the highest standards of craftsmanship and sustainability. It stands as a testament to your commitment to owning something truly extraordinary.”

“Registration is available for all Vellus Aureum products,” the brand explains. “Activating the Zegna Product Passport unlocks a deeper connection to your garments, offering full insight into the creation of Vellus Aureum, while NFC and Aura Blockchain technology ensures a tamper-proof digital stamp of authenticity.
“You’ll also gain access to the complete journey of this rare wool, from ethical sourcing to meticulous craftsmanship, providing you with unparalleled access to the heritage and quality behind one of the world’s finest fabrics.”
“Using your smartphone, scan the NFC tag within the garment’s product label to activate the NFC reading,” Zegna explains. “This will then take you to the product page, where you can find all the information related to your garment.
“Click on ‘Activate Passport’. If you already have a Zegna account at zegna.com, you can log in with the same credentials. Otherwise, complete the registration by filling out the mandatory fields and choosing a password.
“Once active, you will be able to download your Ownership Certificate with all the information about your Vellus Aureum item directly from your account.”
The position of the NFC tag varies by garment, Zegna adds. For jersey, knitwear, overshirts and sweatshirt fleeces, the tag is on the right-side hem. For jackets and outerwear, meanwhile, the tag is inside the left inner pocket. Hats are also equipped with an NFC tag, this time “under the label on the left”.
